Where Diets Go Wrong
What do we do when we realise that we have put on a few pounds, simple most of us will eat less food. Most of us would think that is the reasonable way to go. After all if we hadn’t eaten so much then we wouldn’t have put on the pounds. As you look through the many diets available in magazines and on the Internet they all follow the same pattern of eating less food. A solution to losing weight is found, eat less. Eating less food is a challenge, so does it really work? Well I’m sorry to say for those of us who think that eating less will work then I’m afraid to say it doesn’t work.
Quite simply the human body over thousands of years has learned to survive starvation. Generations of humans have learned to manage to survive periods of starvation and therefore the human body has well been used to coping with lack of food. So when we lower our food consumption it is not going to make a huge difference to our weight it will just mean that the body will reduce the energy produced. If you think back to when you have cut down on your food. Just how tired did it make you?
We all want to lose the extra pounds we have put on, so how do we do this? Well the answer is simple – eat smart rather than eating less. We all require the same amount of calories per day, men slightly more than women. So where does it all go wrong? Putting on those extra pounds is because we are consuming more fats and probably drinking far too much. We need to eat fat for the body to work but we need to start eating complex carbohydrates that are easily broken down and metabolised by the body. If we want to change our eating patterns we need to look at what fats we are consuming.
As with a good wine it takes time for perfection, the same applies to dieting it won’t happen overnight. The weight will have taken a while to be piled on so be realistic, accept it will take time for it to come off. Every second of every day people are looking into and trying to find the perfect diet, whether it is a pill, shake or points system we all look and believe we will find the miracle diet. The endless advertisements promising the world, we all know that most of these do not work, yet we still flick to the next page to try another one.
If you want to lose weight for good then you need to stop eating foods high in fat and back it up with regular exercise. If you don’t exercise then all your hard work cutting out the fat will be pointless as it will just come back before you know it. Everything is at our feet in this world we don’t have to work our bodies hard anymore so to keep the weight off we need to get our bodies working again.
